Milan, 14 February (LaPresse) – Raffaele Palladino's Atalanta conquered the Olimpico and burst into the European zone thanks to a 2-0 win at Lazio in the early match of the 25th round of Serie A. The third victory in four games, the second in a row, confirms the excellent form of La Dea, which, under the guidance of its new coach, seems to have rediscovered the spirit and quality of play of its best days. Lazio, on the other hand, suffered another home defeat after a week that began with qualification for the Coppa Italia semi-finals. The Biancocelesti are struggling to get going in the league and remain far from the top spots. Atalanta now have 42 points and are sixth in the table, four points behind Roma and Juventus. Lazio are only eighth with 33 points. Atalanta started well in the first half, with the Nerazzurri immediately close to scoring with a shot from Krstovic saved on the line by Provstgaard. Lazio reacted immediately, always dangerous on the counterattack with the acceleration of Maldini and Tavares. The Biancocelesti also hit the post with Taylor. In the 40th minute, Atalanta took the lead with Ederson. The Brazilian converted a penalty awarded by the referee for a handball in the area by Cataldi as he attempted to clear a cross. At the end of the half, Sarri also lost Gila to injury, with Patric coming on in his place. At the start of the second half, there was a long VAR check for a possible handball in the Atalanta box, but no penalty was given because Tavares was offside. Lazio pressed and came close to equalising with a header from Noslin that was saved by Carnesecchi. In the 60th minute, however, Atalanta doubled their lead through Zalewski with a fine right-footed curler from the edge of the box. It was the knockout blow for Sarri's side. In the final stages, the Biancocelesti were also unlucky when new signing Ratkov hit the post with a header from a corner.
