Bormio (Sondrio), 11 February (LaPresse) – Another medal in luge at the Milan-Cortina Games, and another gold. After the women's Olympic title at the Sliding Centre in Cortina, on the “Eugenio Monti” track, the Italian pair of Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner won the top medal in the men's doubles. The Carabinieri from Bressanone and Bolzano respectively finished ahead of the American pair Mueller/Haugsjaa, who were in the lead after the first run. Bronze went to the Austrians Steu/Kindl. This is Italy's 21st medal in luge at the Games. The men's doubles had not been on the podium for 20 years, since the bronze in Turin in 2006.
