Milano Cortina, Lindsey Vonn suffers fracture to left leg

Cortina d'Ampezzo (Belluno), Feb. 8 (LaPresse) – Lindsey Vonn sustained a “fracture to the left leg” following a severe fall this morning in the women’s downhill at the Milano Cortina Games. This was reported in a medical bulletin from Ulss 2 of Treviso. The U.S. champion “was assisted by the Regional Medical Service staff for the Olympic Games and immediately airlifted to the Codivilla Hospital managed by Ulss 1, where all diagnostic tests were carried out and the transfer to Ca’Foncello Hospital in Treviso was decided,” the statement continued. “Here, the American athlete was admitted and taken care of by a multidisciplinary team. In the afternoon, she underwent orthopedic surgery to stabilize the fracture in her left leg.” Another medical bulletin is scheduled tomorrow at 12:00 for an update on the patient’s clinical condition.
