Milan-Cortina 2026, figure skating: Italy wins bronze in team event, USA wins gold

Milan, 8 February (LaPresse) – Italy wins another medal on this extraordinary second day at the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina, this time bronze in the figure skating team event. Thanks to a masterful performance by Matteo Rizzo in the men's singles, who finished with a stratospheric score of 179.62 points. The Italian skater finished ahead of Georgia's Nika Egadze, who did not exceed 154.79 points. Italy thus defended its third place in the overall standings and won a historic bronze medal. The gold medal went to the United States thanks to a phenomenal performance by star skater Ilia Malinin, who scored an incredible 200.03 points. Silver went to Japan with Shun Sato, who scored 194.86 points. In the overall standings, the USA leads with 69 points, followed by Japan with 68 and Italy with 60.
