From the beginning, I thought the best thing would be to get to the Olympics, because it has been a really tough journey for me, and it still is today. Being here is really special: it was an almost impossible challenge.‘ So said Federica Brignone, Italian flag bearer in Cortina alongside Amos Mosaner, shortly before parading at the opening ceremony. ’I was driving my car when I found out I was going to be the flag bearer. They asked me, “Can we nominate you?”. I replied, “Yes, fantastic”. When they told me, it was wonderful,‘ she added, ’wearing heels to walk alongside Mosaner? No, in the end, no heels. But the first time we met, I said, “Wow, I really have to wear heels”."
