Football, Paratici: “Fiorentina made a brave, not reckless, choice”

Florence, Feb. 5 (LaPresse) – “I want to take this opportunity to thank the entire Commisso family, General Manager Alessandro Ferrari, and Tottenham for giving me the chance to come to Fiorentina. I decided to join Fiorentina on December 16, when the team had 6 points in the league. A situation that might have seemed reckless was actually a brave choice. I thought that Fiorentina has a great ownership, top-level infrastructure, and a city that is a highly international brand. In the Premier League, I learned that all of this matters.”

This is what Fabio Paratici said today at the Rocco B. Commisso Viola Park in Bagno a Ripoli (Florence) during his first press conference as Fiorentina’s sporting director, a position he officially assumed yesterday, Tuesday, February 4, after concluding his time with Tottenham.

“I am sure Fiorentina deserves higher levels, but right now we have to focus on the next four months, put our heads down, and fight to stay up. Then we will think about building everything else,” Paratici added.

“The team must represent the city. I like high levels of criticism, I like big pressure; I have worked in places with great pressure. And Florence gives great pressure. It motivates me, makes me give more. Things are built step by step. Today we must be realistic and work to get out of this situation. I imagine the Fiorentina of the future as a team that is attractive and stimulating for fans and public opinion, an international team,” he concluded.
