Rome, Jan. 12 (LaPresse) – The National Sports Judge of the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) has ordered the exclusion of Trapani Shark from participation in the Serie A Championship for the 2025–2026 season, while preserving the right to register for senior leagues with open participation. The decision was made following a meeting between FIP and the Serie A Basketball League. All matches played so far by Trapani Shark have been annulled, as provided by Article 17, paragraph 3, of the Executive Competition Regulations. A fine of €600,000 was also imposed, equivalent to twelve times the amount established for a first withdrawal under the Official Contributions Notice, as provided by Article 56, paragraph 2, of the Justice Regulations. President Valerio Antonini has been suspended for three months pursuant to Article 44 of the Justice Regulations. The case files have been forwarded to the Registration Office for the release of senior athletes and to the National Coaches Committee for the cancellation of CNA registrations, in accordance with Articles 18 and 19 of the Executive Registration Regulations and Article 56, paragraph 3, of the Justice Regulations.
