Milan, Jan. 5 (LaPresse) – Eight NBA games were played overnight, highlighted by Oklahoma City’s last-second loss in Phoenix and the Los Angeles Lakers’ big comeback led by a superb Luka Doncic. Devin Booker scored the decisive basket with 0.7 seconds remaining, giving the Phoenix Suns a 108-105 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, despite 25 points from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 120-114 in a comeback, powered by Doncic’s 36 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists, while LeBron James contributed 26 points and 10 assists.
In other games, Detroit beat Cleveland 114-110, thanks to 27 points from Cade Cunningham and 25 from Daniss Jenkins. The Orlando Magic defeated the Indiana Pacers 135-127, handing them their twelfth consecutive loss, led by 31 points from Desmond Bane and a double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds from Paolo Banchero.
The Brooklyn Nets beat the Denver Nuggets (still without Nikola Jokic) 127-115, led by former Nugget Michael Porter Jr., who scored 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Minnesota Timberwolves crushed the Washington Wizards 141-115, led by 35 points from Anthony Edwards. Miami Heat defeated New Orleans 125-106 with 34 points from Norman Powell, while Simone Fontecchio played only 60 seconds. Finally, Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Milwaukee Bucks with 37 points and 11 rebounds in a 115-98 road victory over the Sacramento Kings.
