NBA Commissioner Silver: ‘Negotiations for European expansion by the end of January’

Milan, 17 December (LaPresse/AP) – ‘I think that towards the end of January we will be able to have more serious conversations with the parties involved.’ NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has hinted that there could be news next month about plans for the NBA and FIBA project to launch a league in Europe. This makes sense, given that the league will play regular season games in Berlin and London next month, when Orlando and Memphis will face off for a couple of games. ‘I would say that right now we are casting a very, very wide net and essentially saying to anyone who is interested, “Come talk to us, tell us why you are interested, how you see the opportunity, what resources you would invest to start a team, and then we will take all that information and go from there,”’ Silver said.
