Rome, Dec. 2 (LaPresse) – Danilo Gallinari, 37, announces his retirement from basketball in a long post on Instagram. “Today, with a heart full of gratitude, I announce my retirement from a career I have always dreamed of. A career built through hard work, sacrifices, victories, defeats, teammates who became brothers, the guidance of my coaches and, of course, the family and friends who have been by my side every step of the way,” the post reads. "It has been an incredible journey, filled with countless memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. To those who believed in me, to all those who supported me and to those who shared every moment with me: thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can't wait to start the next chapter," concluded the Italian forward, who played for the Italian national team in the 2011, 2015, and 2025 European Championships, the 2019 World Championships, and the 2020 Tokyo Games. From 2008 to 2024, he played in the NBA with the New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons, and Milwaukee Bucks.
