Milan, 15 Nov. (LaPresse) – Mikaela Shiffrin opened the Olympic slalom season in style, taking a clear lead in the first run of the World Cup race in Levi, Finnish Lapland. The American star recorded the fastest partial times in three of the four sections of the Levi Black course and finished in 56"08, 1.08 seconds ahead of second-placed Albanian teenager Lara Colturi. Germany's Lena Duerr finished third, while Croatian slalom World Cup champion Zrinka Ljutic came fourth. Shiffrin said, ‘This was the best run I could have done.’ The best of the Italians, the only one to qualify for the second run, was Emilia Mondinelli in 28th place at +2.88, while Alice Pazzaglia (31st at +3.10) and Lara Della Mea (44th at +3.73) failed to qualify.
