Rome, Oct. 24 (LaPresse) – Jannik Sinner has reached the semifinals of the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna. The world No. 2 defeated Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, in one hour and 18 minutes.
The Italian adds another record to his name, joining two greats of Italian tennis. He now equals Adriano Panatta and Fabio Fognini with 42 semifinals reached on the ATP Tour in the Open Era.
In the semifinals, Sinner will face Australian Alex De Minaur. “It’s always tough and very difficult against Bublik. I tried to get as many balls as possible back over the net and created my own chances. I had them, and I’m happy I stayed solid throughout the match,” Sinner said after the win.
