Milan, 18 October (LaPresse) – Max Verstappen took pole position for the Sprint race at the United States Grand Prix, with the Dutchman completing a spectacular lap in the final moments of qualifying, beating both McLarens. Lando Norris had set the pace during the session, dominating SQ1 and SQ2 before initially appearing to repeat this result in SQ3. But it was Verstappen who set the fastest time of all, with a lap of 1:32.143s that put the Red Bull driver just 0.071 thousandths of a second ahead of Norris. The other McLaren of Oscar Piastri was more than three tenths of a second off Verstappen's time in third place, while Nico Hulkenberg attracted attention by placing his Kick Sauber in P4. Mercedes' George Russell followed in fifth place, ahead of Fernando Alonso's Aston Martin in sixth. Williams' Carlos Sainz recovered from his difficulties in FP1 to take seventh place on the grid, while his teammate Alex Albon took ninth. The Ferraris struggled, with Lewis Hamilton finishing between them in eighth place and his teammate Charles Leclerc rounding out the top ten in tenth.
