Milan, 28 September (LaPresse) – An extraordinary Tadej Pogacar reaffirms his title as World Cycling Champion. The Slovenian phenomenon dominates in Rwanda, winning the 267.5 km race from start to finish in Kigali, and secures his place in history. With an irresistible move about 60 km from the finish line, Pogacar broke the resistance of all his rivals, starting with Remco Evenepoel, the only rider capable of challenging and potentially defeating him in the time trial. The 27-year-old Slovenian champion finished about 1.30" ahead of the Belgian, with Irishman Ben Healy claiming third place over 2 minutes behind. There was disappointment for Italy, as Giulio Ciccone struggled to keep up with the pace of the best and finished far behind. With today’s victory, Pogacar equals Paolo Bettini and Julian Alaphilippe, the only riders to win the World Championship two years in a row.
