Rome, 20 September (LaPresse) – "I dedicated the victory to my whole team after the race because we worked hard throughout a very long season and I wanted to thank everyone. I realised I had won the race after it was over. It means a lot because it gives you the opportunity to be a professional athlete, and that's the best thing." These are the words of Mattia Furlani, gold medallist in the long jump at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo and athlete of the Fiamme Oro sports group of the State Police in Fiumicino. ‘Police officers and athletes have in common the fact that they must set a good example not only on the field but also off the track.’ Future plans? ‘Get back on the track and try to jump further and further,’ he concluded.
