In the second singles match, Jasmine Paolini, ranked eighth in the WTA, came from behind to defeat world No. 13 Elina Svitolina 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and 27 minutes, giving Italy the tying point. Earlier, in the first singles match, Elisabetta Cocciaretto, ranked 91st, lost in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) to world No. 26 Marta Kostyuk.
