Athletics: Duplantis soars to 6.30m and sets new pole vault world record

Rome, Sept. 15 (LaPresse) – New world record for Armand Duplantis, who at the World Championships in Tokyo cleared 6.30 meters and once again positions himself as the athlete of the year in international athletics. The Swede, after winning gold with a mark of 6.20 meters, surpassed the new world record height on his third attempt.

During his career, he has improved the world record in the discipline fourteen times (eight outdoor and six indoor). The undisputed king of pole vault since 2020, “Mondo” Duplantis had cleared 6.29 meters at the Continental Tour Gold in Budapest on August 12. Only Sergei Bubka has a higher number of world record improvements in his career, thirty-five (seventeen outdoor and eighteen indoor).
