Milan, Aug. 13 (LaPresse) – For the second consecutive time and the fifth in the last seven editions, the Italian women's national softball team are European champions. In the final of the European Championship in Prague, Czech Republic, coach Craig Montvidas’s Azzurre beat their eternal Dutch rivals 4-3 in extra innings. Italy, trailing 3-0 after the first two innings, made a comeback in the following innings to tie the game, and then secured the victory with a single by Elisa Cecchetti in the eighth inning. For the Azzurre, it is their 14th continental title—three more than the Netherlands.
