Rome, 8 September. (LaPresse) – ‘Alcaraz hadn't lost a single set in the tournament before the final, he was coming off eight consecutive finals. We lost to a stronger opponent, one who was more on the ball. Jannik still won two Slams and reached the final in the other two, and this in a year in which he was out for three months, lost the final in Rome due to leg problems and withdrew from the final in Cincinnati.’ This is what FITP president Angelo Binaghi told Supertennis after the US Open final. "Jannik reached the final in poorer form than his opponent, unlike last year when Jannik won Cincinnati, then the US Open, Shanghai, the Finals and the Davis Cup, and he arrived at these events with the same focus and ball sensitivity as Alcaraz. Jannik did everything he could, then we can argue that he didn't serve well, but in my opinion he was carrying something over from the semi-final problem," he added.
