Turin, 6 September. (LaPresse) – Max Verstappen took pole position in the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver clocked a time of 1'18"792, ahead of the two McLarens of Lando Norris, second by 77 thousandths, and Oscar Piastri, third by 190 thousandths. Fourth place went to Charles Leclerc's Ferrari, which completes the second row, 215 thousandths behind the pole sitter. Behind him was Lewis Hamilton, who will start tenth and not fifth due to the five-place grid penalty he received a week ago in the Netherlands. This moves up the two Mercedes cars of George Russell, who will start fifth, with teammate Kimi Antonelli sixth. Rounding out the top ten are Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber) in seventh, Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) in eighth and Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull) in ninth.
