Rome, 3 September. (LaPresse) – ‘Being part of the Azzurri is every child's dream, I'm proud. My impression of the coach? He's very empathetic, he tells you things to your face, training is intense and there's harmony within the group to do well.’ These were the words of Gianluca Mancini, defender for Roma and the Italian national team, speaking to RaiSport on the eve of the double header against Estonia and Israel. ‘We must respect our history and also look at those who came before us. We have to sweat it out in every game,’ he added. As for his recent omission from Spalletti's squad, ‘I respect every decision made by the coach. I wasn't called up that month because I was on holiday after the end of the season. If he had called me up, I would have been the first to leave, but the coach makes his own choices.’
