Rome, Aug. 30. (LaPresse) – Lorenzo Musetti has reached the round of 16 at the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the season, for the first time in his career. In the all-Italian match against Flavio Cobolli, Musetti won the first two sets 6-3, 6-2. In the third set, Cobolli complained of physical problems and, at 2-0, decided to retire to avoid worsening the situation. The two embraced and left the court to applause. Musetti will advance further, as he will face the winner between Jaume Munar and Zizou Bergs. If successful, he could face Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals, who is playing against Canadian Shapovalov tonight.
