Rome, 28 August. (LaPresse) – Andy Diaz, Olympic bronze medallist and world and European indoor gold medallist, wins the third Diamond of his career, winning the Wanda Diamond League final in Zurich with a superb 17.56 in the triple jump (-0.3 wind), a result that instils confidence two weeks before the World Championships in Tokyo. The Italian athlete from the Fiamme Gialle team beat some of his most dangerous rivals who await him at the World Championships in Japan, from Portugal's Pedro Pichardo, who had temporarily overtaken him in the lead with 17.47 (after Diaz's initial 17.31), to Algeria's Yasser Triki (17.42) and Jordan Scott of Jamaica (17.16). This is the third Diamond League Champion title for the jumper trained by Fabrizio Donato, after those in 2022 and 2023. Marco Fassinotti (Aeronautica) came fifth in the high jump: the Italian cleared both 2.16 and 2.19 on his first attempt, then bowed out with three failures at 2.22.
