Rome, Aug. 26 (LaPresse) – Carlos Alcaraz kicked off his US Open campaign with a straight-sets win over Reilly Opelka. The Spanish world No. 2 triumphed 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 in just over two hours, advancing to the second round, where he will face Italy's Mattia Bellucci.

Alcaraz also grabbed attention with a brand-new look: he showed up on court with a shaved head. “I already wanted to cut it before the tournament because it felt too long. But my brother misunderstood what to do with the clippers, so the only way to fix it was to shave it all off,” Alcaraz explained. “It's not that bad, I think… It'll grow back in a few days. Some people like it, some don’t, but it’s been fun to see people’s reactions. It was also funny seeing myself on the big screens with this new haircut… I looked so pale!”
