(LaPresse) – With three titles won in 2025, 54 matches played this season and a ranking now close to equalling his career best, Luciano Darderi, ranked 32nd, made his first appearance at the US Open as a seed with the aim of winning his first match at Flushing Meadows. Mission accomplished, and in style. He played three sets with authority and consistency, never giving his opponent, Australia's Rinky Hijikata, a chance to get back into the match. The Italian won 6-2, 6-1, 6-2.
