New York (USA), Aug. 21 (LaPresse/AP) – Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori successfully defended their US Open mixed doubles title, keeping a traditional team at the top of a revamped event filled with singles stars. The Italians defeated No. 3 seeds Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud 6-3, 5-7, [10-6], winning four matches in two days and claiming a prize of one million dollars, a huge increase compared to their earnings in New York last year under a format that was completely different from this edition.
