ome, August 21 (LaPresse/AP) – French cyclist Franck Bonnamour has been banned for four years for doping by an independent tribunal. The sanction was handed down without a positive drug test, but based on an analysis showing irregularities in the athlete’s blood values.

The International Cycling Union (UCI) stated that the 30-year-old’s suspension will expire in February 2028. Bonnamour had announced his retirement last year during the investigation.

The highlight of Bonnamour’s career came at the 2021 Tour de France, where he was awarded the combativity prize. According to the UCI, his biological passport — used to detect signs of doping over time — revealed abnormal values in 2022. Bonnamour had completed the Tour that year.
