Rome, Aug. 19 (LaPresse) – Italian basketball player Stefano Tonut has been allowed to leave the national team training camp due to a muscle strain in the medial gastrocnemius of his right leg. The recovery time does not allow him to participate in EuroBasket 2025. "Stefano is an example of dedication and commitment to the National Team jersey. After Bologna, he wanted at all costs to stay with us to try to recover in time for the European Championship. His willpower is moving, but the timing is cruel. Unfortunately, he is forced to give up this dream, and with a heavy heart, we also have to give him up. We are sincerely saddened," said head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco. The Italian squad is training at the Olympic Preparation Center in Rome, waiting to depart on August 20 for Athens, where they will play the final two friendly matches of the summer against Latvia (August 21, 7 p.m. Italian time) and Greece (August 22, 7 p.m. Italian time).
