London (UK), Aug. 12 (LaPresse) – David Coote, a Premier League referee, has been banned for eight weeks and required to attend an in-person training program after being dismissed by the FA for a private video in which he insulted then-Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp. The clip, dating back to July 2020, circulated widely on social media, leading to Coote’s dismissal. The former referee admitted to the FA that he acted "inappropriately" and used "offensive and/or abusive language." In the video, at the request of an unidentified person, Coote expresses his opinion about Klopp, saying he does not like him because he is "arrogant" and because "he accused me of lying" after a match. According to the FA, Coote’s conduct constitutes an "aggravated breach" of regulations because it contained "an explicit or implicit reference to the nationality" of the manager. An independent regulatory commission announced today it has imposed the new sanctions on Coote following a hearing
