De Minaur, ranked No. 8 in the world, was defeated by American Reilly Opelka with a score of 7-6 (8/6), 6-4, while Medvedev, former world number one and winner of the tournament in 2019, was defeated by Australian Adam Walton (number 85) 6-7 (0/7), 6-4, 6-1.
