Turin, 9 August (LaPresse) – Giulio Ciccone won the fifth and final stage of the Vuelta a Burgos, the queen stage starting from Quintana del Pidio and finishing uphill in Lagunas de Neila. The Lidl Trek rider triumphed alone, finishing ten seconds ahead of Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) and 27 seconds ahead of Lorenzo Fortunato (XDS Astana Team), who finished third. Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe) and Giovanni Aleotti (Red Bull-Bora hansgrohe) also finished in the top ten, in seventh and eighth place respectively. Former overall leader Leo Bisiaux (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team) collapsed, finishing eleventh, 55 seconds behind the winner. Del Toro triumphed ahead of Fortunato, second at 19 seconds, and Bisiaux himself, third at 25 seconds behind the Mexican.
