Milan, 3 August (LaPresse) – Alexander Zverev, the tournament's top seed, reaches the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open without breaking a sweat. An abdominal injury forces Francisco Cerundolo to retire when the Argentine is trailing 6-4, 1-0. At 5-4, before serving for the set, Zverev hugged Cerundolo to console him, then after the end of the first game of the second set, the Argentine waved the white flag and left the court. In the quarter-finals, Zverev will face Alexei Popyrin, who surprisingly knocked out favourite Holger Rune 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
