Milan, July 30 (LaPresse) – “Ademola Lookman has been expressing his desire to leave Atalanta for some time now — it’s no secret. And in all our planning, he was likely the player expected to depart this summer, in line with our club’s philosophy of one key sale per season. Unfortunately, the transfer market always brings surprises — you all know what happened with Retegui,” said Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi during the presentation of Honest Ahanor.

“As for Ademola, despite a lot of interest, nothing concrete had ever arrived — until yesterday, when we received the first official offer. Inter is a club we’re on very friendly terms with,” he added. “Yesterday I saw [Giuseppe] Marotta at the Lega offices, and we have a great professional and personal relationship.”

“In the coming days, we’ll calmly evaluate the offer and then respond. I just want to make clear, given all the speculation, that when it comes to timing and value, it’s Atalanta — and only Atalanta — that makes those decisions,” Percassi emphasized.

Finally, he admitted, “Retegui’s departure was not in our plans, especially since he had only joined the club a few months ago.”
