Milan, July 30 (LaPresse) – Rescue teams have resumed efforts to reach German Olympic gold medalist Laura Dahlmeier, who was injured after being caught in a landslide earlier this week while attempting to climb a peak in northern Pakistan.
A spokesperson for the regional government of Gilgit-Baltistan said on Wednesday that rescuers are racing against time to reach her despite bad weather on Laila Peak, where the injured German athlete has been stranded since Monday.
Dahlmeier, who also won the 2017 Women’s Biathlon World Cup, was climbing Laila Peak in the Karakoram mountain range when she was struck by falling rocks. Her climbing partner managed to reach base camp with the help of rescuers.
