Naples, 19 July (LaPresse) – Sergio Campana, historic president and founder of the Italian Footballers' Association, has died. He was 90 years old. The announcement was made by the AIC. ‘The Board of Directors, staff and employees all join the family in this difficult time,’ reads a statement. A footballer in the 1950s and 1960s, Campana spent most of his career at Vicenza. After retiring, he founded the Italian Footballers' Association in 1968, the first union for Italian footballers. Campana was president of the AIC until 2011.
