Football: Liverpool remembers Diogo Jota in friendly match against Preston

Preston (United Kingdom), 13 July (LaPresse/AP) – Liverpool players and fans paid tribute to Diogo Jota, who died ten days ago in Spain following a car accident, in the English champions' first friendly match. A minute's silence was observed before kick-off in the match against Championship side Preston, and Liverpool's anthem “You'll Never Walk Alone” was played live. Fans turned up at the stadium with commemorative banners and repeatedly chanted the name of the Portuguese footballer, who died alongside his brother André Silva. The Reds won the match 3-1, with striker Darwin Nunez paying tribute to his teammate after scoring by imitating his iconic celebration, sitting on the grass and playing with an imaginary controller.
