Milan, July 4 (LaPresse) – Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini’s journey in the women’s doubles at Wimbledon ends in the second round. The third Grand Slam of the season, held on the grass courts of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, once again features a record prize pool this year: £53.5 million (€62.7 million).
The Italian duo, seeded No. 3, currently leading the Race to Riyadh and ranked No. 5 in the WTA doubles standings, had opened their campaign with a straight-sets win over Spain’s Cristina Bucsa (WTA No. 38) and Japan’s Miyu Kato (WTA No. 41).
However, they were defeated 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and nine minutes by Taiwan’s Hao-Ching Chan and Czech player Barbora Krejcikova.
