Football: Atalanta officially signs Ahanor from Genoa

Rome, 4 July (LaPresse) – "Following the signings of Kossounou and Kamaldeen Sulemana, Atalanta BC is pleased to announce its third permanent signing at the start of the current summer transfer window. The Nerazzurri club has acquired the sporting rights of Honest Ovonranwen Ahanor from Genoa CFC. The 17-year-old left-footed player became the first player born in 2008 to start a Serie A match last season." This was announced by the Bergamo club in a statement. ‘He was only 16 years, 7 months and 5 days old when, on his debut on 28 September 2024, Honest played from the first minute in the match between Genoa and Juventus, also becoming the youngest player to take the field in last season's championship,’ the statement continued. In the end, he made six appearances in Serie A in his first season among the “seniors”, half of which were as a starter, the last in the draw with Napoli at the Maradona stadium, where he was the protagonist, setting up the own goal that made it 1-1. Born on 23 February 2008 in Aversa to Nigerian parents, Honest joined Genoa's youth academy when he was still a child. He completed his development with the Rossoblù, winning a national title in 2023-24. The Percassi family, the Pagliuca family and the entire Nerazzurri club extend a warm welcome to Honest and wish him every success, both personally and with the team, in a Nerazzurri shirt.
