Tomorrow marks the start of the 2025 Women's European Championship, the 14th edition of the tournament, which will be held in Switzerland from 2 to 27 July. The opening day will see the four teams in Group A take to the field: first Finland v Iceland at 6pm at the Arena in Thun, then Switzerland v Norway at 9pm at St. Jakob Park in Basel, where the opening ceremony will take place. On Thursday, it will be the Azzurre's turn to make their debut at the Stade de Tourbillon in Sion (6pm, Rai 2), where the national team will arrive this afternoon after training this morning at the Team Base Camp in Weggis. Italy will resume its European Championship campaign where it left off three years ago: facing them will be Belgium, who eliminated Milena Bertolini's team in Manchester in July 2022 with a 1-0 win in the third group match (goal by Tini De Caigny in the 49th minute). The second match is scheduled for 7 July at the Stade de Geneve in Geneva (9pm, Rai 2), against Portugal, who are in their third consecutive final phase without ever having faced Italy. An interesting fact: the last time Belgium and Portugal were in the same group was in Group 6 of the 2019 World Cup qualifiers, with Italy finishing first and qualifying for the finals in France. In that group, Italy won twice against Portugal and once against Belgium, losing the other match.
