Lorenzo has terminated his contract with MLS club Toronto FC. His agent Andrea D'Amico confirmed this to broadcaster Stile TV. Insigne is someone who optimises a team's play, he's in great shape, he's well trained, he trained today too, so he's ready for a new adventure,‘ said D'Amico, adding that the former Napoli attacking midfielder's future lies in Europe. ’It's too early to say where, but the lad is in good shape mentally and physically, and his qualities are beyond question," he explained. ‘I don't know if his desire to return to European football also hides a desire to return to the national team. He is someone who lives and breathes football, and in a game that is becoming increasingly physical, quality makes the difference. Winning the Scudetto with Napoli would have been the ultimate for him, but never say never!’ he concluded, not ruling out a sensational return to the Azzurri.
