The Bianconeri were defeated 1-0 by Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid, who capitalised on an excellent start to the second half in which Di Gregorio had to work overtime. The match was decided in the 54th minute by a goal from Gonzalo Garcia, who headed in a cross from Alexander-Arnold. Following the elimination of Inter and Juve, there are no other Italian teams left in the competition. Real will face the winner of the match between Monterrey and Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals.
