London, June 28 (LaPresse) – "There isn’t a specific reason why these changes were made. Nothing spectacular happened. The Roland Garros final was an exceptional milestone, regardless of the result. Sometimes you just need to take a slightly different path." This is what Jannik Sinner said during the press conference at Wimbledon Media Day, explaining his decision to end his relationship with Marco Panichi and Ulises Badio.
"Sometimes things happen. The timing isn’t ideal, but having worked so much, the timing of the decision shouldn’t affect this tournament too much, which is special for me. I’m ready to play, I’m training well. I haven’t thought about who will come in, there are many options, but it’s not the right time to think about that," he added.
Sinner made the decision after Halle, the tournament where he was accompanied by Badio and coach Darren Cahill, which ended with his second-round elimination against the eventual winner Alexander Bublik. "I hadn’t had much time to disconnect after Roland Garros. It didn’t go as well as possible, but it happened. Now I want to play my best tennis here," he commented.
For now, he is not thinking about what will happen or how to form the new team. "I haven’t thought about who will come in, there are many options, but it’s not the right time to think about that," said Sinner, at Wimbledon with coaches Simone Vagnozzi and Cahill, along with osteopath Andrea Cipolla.
However, the profile of the person who will join the team is clear. "I’m looking for people who can also fit in with everyone else in the team, who can work well in the group. I’m looking for honest people, trustworthy people."
