Rome, June 28 (LaPresse) – “The Club World Cup in Brazil in 2029? Yes, we talked about this possibility with the new president of the CBF. We haven’t made a decision yet. We also know that Brazil will host the Women’s World Cup in 2027. So, world football will return to Brazil, and that’s fantastic,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino to TV Globo during halftime of the Botafogo–Palmeiras match in the Round of 16 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
“The impact of Brazilian football here in the United States, in this Club World Cup, is fantastic. The whole world loves Brazilian football. Having four clubs, all four reaching the Round of 16, is a success—an amazing achievement for Brazilian football. And the fans, I must say, are incredible. Truly incredible. They make everyone fall in love with Brazil,” continued Infantino.
On the frequency of the Club World Cup, he joked: “Ah, if it were up to the FIFA president, we’d play it every year, all year, right? But for now, it’s scheduled every four years. After this tournament, we’ll analyze everything, consult with clubs, confederations, and national federations, and decide on the best future for this Club World Cup. What we already know is that it’s a triumph, a huge success, putting clubs from all over the world on the global map. And that’s essential for FIFA: giving clubs worldwide the chance to be seen and recognized everywhere.”
“To Brazilian fans, a big hug to all of you. Thank you for your passion, for the heart of Brazil. The whole world is in love with Brazil,” he concluded.
