Milan, 24 June (LaPresse) – Two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray will contribute to the design of a statue depicting him to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the grass court tournament in 2027. Wimbledon organisers said on Tuesday that they plan to unveil the statue of the great British tennis player during the 2027 tournament. Murray ended a 77-year wait for a home champion in the men's singles in 2013, beating Novak Djokovic in the final. The Scot went on to win a second title in the 2016 final against Milos Raonic. Wimbledon organisers say that the statue design was inspired by the way Rafael Nadal was honoured this month at Roland Garros in Paris.
