Turin, June 23 (LaPresse) – Liberty Media Corporation has received “unconditional approval from the European Commission to complete its acquisition of Dorna Sports S.L., the holder of MotoGP rights. The closing of the deal is expected no later than July 3, 2025, or before that date, opening the door to a new era for the sport.”
This is stated in a MotoGP press release, which emphasizes that “Liberty Media will bring its expertise to further expand the MotoGP fanbase and grow the sport both globally and commercially.”
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna since 1998, will continue to lead MotoGP alongside his management team.
“Today’s approval by the European Commission represents the final condition for the completion of Liberty Media’s acquisition of MotoGP. We are excited to launch Liberty’s partnership with Carmelo and his outstanding management team,” said Derek Chang, President and CEO of Liberty Media.
