Turin, June 17 (LaPresse) – “We must not dwell on the past; this is the end of the 2024/2025 season, a competition that deserves respect. We must be the best version of ourselves. We're not looking for excuses, not about our physical or mental condition. We're ready, we've tried to prepare: we've worked on building both mental and physical calmness to present ourselves in the best way possible.”

This is how Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu spoke at a press conference ahead of their Club World Cup debut tonight (3:00 AM Italian time) against Monterrey.

“The team has trained well, we are almost at full strength now: there are a few issues, a few knocks, but nothing serious. The new arrivals have done a good job. Luis Henrique is a bit behind in terms of fitness — he had a few extra days off — while Sucic has just arrived from national team duty: you’ll see them in action,” he added.

“Will I stick with the 3-5-2 formation? In Italy we’re very tied to formations, but what really matters are the principles of play. Inter has used this system in recent years, with a way of occupying space that has brought great results. It always requires a lot of movement, symmetry, avoiding fixed points of reference — the goal is to create problems for the opponent’s defensive organization. This team has always had these principles; we’ll try to add something new, though it’s not easy because it takes time.”
