Rome, 9 June (LaPresse) – Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner's colleagues commented with a series of superlatives on last Sunday's final at Roland Garros, which is destined to go down in history. The most eagerly awaited reaction was that of Rafael Nadal, who has lifted the Musketeers' Cup 14 times. However, his post welcoming his compatriot's trophy remains rather formal, referring to an “incredible final” and congratulating Alcaraz and Sinner on “the great battle”. A story on Roger Federer's profile, on the other hand, tells of “three winners: Carlos, Jannik and tennis”. Class, as always. The comments of two greats from the past were decidedly less formal: Rod Laver (“I'm still glued to this final, my heart is with Sinner, who showed great class in defeat”) and Billie Jean King (“an epic match ready for the cinema”). Returning to his colleagues today, Stan Wawrinka talks about “insane level”, while Juan Martin del Potro congratulates his friend Alcaraz, emphasising, however, that this time “they should have both won”. The most impartial seems to be Argentine Diego Schwartzman, known as El Peque, who simply wrote “5 hours and 30 minutes of magic” on social media. The most biased is Russian Evgeny Kafelnikov, who did not even mention Sinner, saying instead that Alcaraz “will win as many Slam titles as he wants to win”.
