Milan, 5 June (LaPresse) – A last-minute goal by Aziz Behich gave Australia a 1-0 victory over Japan in Perth, bringing the Socceroos one step closer to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. Japan, already qualified, fielded an experimental line-up on Thursday. Only Daichi Kamada and Koki Machida had made more than four appearances for their country, but they still had most of the possession and chances. Australia beat Japan for the first time in 16 years.
