Rome, June 3 (LaPresse) – “When many news come out, you have to try to stay focused on what you do, calm as much as possible, and I managed quite well because I know how to shut myself off from people I don’t know. What really mattered to me was to talk to Marcell, and we did it the day after the first news came out: we said that nothing changes between us, it made me very happy.”
This is what Filippo Tortu said in an interview with Repubblica, talking about the Milan prosecutor’s investigation into alleged dossiers against Marcell Jacobs, in which his brother Giacomo is under investigation.
“In my opinion, there is often a desire to sow discord, it had already happened years ago,” he explains, “but we have always had an excellent relationship, and I wanted to confirm that. At that point, I told myself I had to only think about running and staying calm. The track became a refuge, and I isolated myself.”
Giacomo, he adds, “is still my brother, no matter what people say. And I will be his brother for life.”
Regarding his decision not to answer the Milan prosecutor’s questions, he explains: “It’s my right, so I exercised the right to remain silent. I was there as a person informed about the facts, a rather calm situation.”
He says he is not worried and that “everything is fine for me since I talked to Marcell.”
The two Italian athletes will soon meet again; Jacobs mentioned possible embarrassment.
“I don’t think it will be necessary, but if it helps to break the ice, I have plenty of jokes in my repertoire,” he assures. “There will be no problem.”
