Turin, 2 June (LaPresse) – Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori were defeated in the round of 16 doubles match at Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of 2025 (€56,352,000 prize money) currently underway on the red clay of Paris. The Italians, seeded fourth and defending champions, lost 6-2, 7-6 (6) to Australians Matthew Ebden and John Peers, seeded 15th. It was a complicated match from the outset, with Bolelli losing three breaks in as many service games. There was a reaction, however, with a comeback from a break down in the second set. In the final tie-break, however, the Italians never managed to take the lead, despite saving a match point at 6-5. The Australian pair, who won Olympic gold last summer at Roland Garros, will now face eighth seeds Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski of Great Britain, who defeated Portuguese Nuno Borges and Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech 76(5) 64.
